Where did I come from?
In our house we like to tackle the big issues and I often wonder where I came from. How did a puppy born in Leeds find herself in London and where are my brothers and sisters?
When ML showed me a picture of my brother cuddling into my mum I felt very jealous of him and needed a tasty chew to feel better.

(the family style is strong and we must all wear red well).
I would even be happy to share my bed:

And I like to think that this is me and my mum having a cuddle (no offense ML and Gemma):

Brothers and sisters make contact with me!

I'm back!
I haven't actually been away but those girls with the fingers to type have been at work and too busy to record my day to day life!
You're probably wondering what's been happening over the past month ......
I went on lots of walks with Buster:

I spent a day with Benson (everyone hopes that I won't grow as big as him):

And ML made me walk when I should have been in bed asleep (we didn't really get far as I put my bum down and refused to move):

Of course this is where I like to be:

No comments about the hot water bottle (it helps me get to sleep) and Snoopy likes to cuddle in at night x

Back to work!
Today ML kept telling me to go, you know go and do my personal business. As we were up early and she had on proper clothes I knew that something strange was happening so I kept everything inside my body - just in case I needed it later! She walked me on the common twice before taking me to meet Gemma.
Only we didn't met Gemma she was still at work and instead I travelled on the tube! I had to be carried down the moving steps and ML held onto me when the train arrived. I was very good on the tube. I lay down on the floor and although people had to step over my long paws I was quiet and well behaved:

Once we reached work I still refused to go and instead fell asleep on ML's (rather large and ugly) chair:

All I have to say is that she should spend more time tidying her office. I was surrounded by piles:

This is Buster ....
He's my best friend. We play on Tooting Common together and sometimes (after lots of running around, ear biting and a wrestle) we have a nap together:
Buster has a sheep skin rug in his crate (it was very tasty thank you). When we visited his crate it was a snug fit as his legs won't grow as big as mine. We still had a lot of fun:

My Houdini moment....
So today after the breakfast club when I play with my doggy friends ML planned to quietly sneak out to Pets at Home (payment for advertising and to recoup some of the spending gratefully received) while I had other plans.
Foolishly she looked at my sleepy face and after removing my collar (for safety reasons) was distracted enough to only close one of the catches. You know where this is going ........
When she returned she was pleased that with her ear to the front door there was silence (I wasn't crying). Once inside she was surprised to find a tee shirt at the top of the stairs (she is very observant and did not remember seeing that). Rushing into the kitchen she saw an empty crate!
Me? I was in the bathroom playing with the bottle of facial toner (it's important to look after your skin). I had made myself a comfortable bed of towels and did not hear her come home. Thank goodness there were no surprises of the wet kind and that I had only knocked over the books in the bedroom and that Maisie was asleep in the living room. She'll never know what we were up to......
This picture is to remind her to use the crate sensibly.

I don't like the rain!
A new bed from Crawley
We visited Jack and Tony in Crawley today. In their garden (which isn't accessed by steep death steps - ML and Gem please note) I chased Zach and Molly held my lead. Although Tony insisted on watering the grass after I peed (strange) he did leave lots of bread out for me ... tasty but a bit dry!
In the afternoon I walked into town (not on my own of course) and spent lots of money (again not my money) on a new bed for the living room (to save the constant moving of my bed), a black coat (I get very cold), and a strange spray that blows out air - I will be scared the first couple of times but will soon ignore that!
I love my new bed x

My first car journey sitting on my own....
...and don't I look cute?

We went to visit a doggy day care person .... so many dogs, so little space, such a big television and too much mess! We won't be returning!
I was very good in the car and look forward to going to the beach. Please take me to play in water.....
Legal notice:
Although it is not a law (as far as we are aware and it has never been mentioned on Law & Order) I was wearing a doggy seat belt purchased on ebay. All views expressed here belong to Scout and are fictional-ish).

A Walk on Wandsworth Common .....

A Starbucks treat ......
I SLEPT ALL NIGHT! YES ALLLLLL NIGHT, NO WAKING UP, NO CRYING JUST ASLEEP IN THE CRATE IN THE KITCHEN!
It might not happen again but we celebrated in style at Starbucks. On the walk there lots of people stopped us to say hello (I especially like to lick children) and some people said that I was very pretty.

I'm too young for a latte but I was rewarded for my long walk with a treat and (after some 'pathetic pick me up' looks) I sat on a knee before the walk home.

Why am I called Scout?
'I was born good but had grown progressively worse every year'.
Scout, Chapter 9.
One of ML's favourite books is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Published in 1960, it won the Pulitzer Prize (in 1961), and is regarded as a classic of modern American literature with themes of racial injustice, class, gender and courage and the destruction of innocence. The plot and characters are loosely based on the Lee's observations of her family and neighbors, as well as on an event that occurred near her hometown in 1936, when she was 10 years old (perhaps ethnographic in its endevour......).
ML taught To Kill a Mockingbird in her first year as an English teacher and reading aloud to the year 10 class she remembers feeling like a real teacher! Although she has not read the book again for many years and considers that the themes may not stand up to a more critical analysis the character of Scout has the strength, the courage and even when she looses her innocence the compassion to be a good person. Even though she learns about 'a lot of bad in the world' she is warm, friendly and adorable which is what is hoped for Scout the dog!
PS It is very difficult to write in first person dog!

It's been a busy first week in Balham

On Monday I visited not one but TWO vets. We walked (well I was in the bag...) to the first vet but ml decided quite quickly that it was not the place for us so we made an appointment with the vet Maisie scratches and planned to visit them in the afternoon. To get to the second vet I was put in a cat basket! What was she thinking? I cried for the entire journey (well it was hot and I didn't know where I was going) but at the vet they gave me a treat and I got to help the nurse (I sat on her knee).
On Tuesday I met Gemma at the tube:

And on Wednesday I finally made it onto the sofa .... I had to stand on a cushion but I was able to watch a bit of Law and Order before I was moved on:

Although I seem to sleep a lot of the time I am very willing to help out and on Friday I helped in the garden:

I think that I could be really useful .....

It was a hard night ...
So maybe I slept too much in the car. I certainly didn't sleep much last night and I was very pleased that ml wasn't grumpy when she visited me in the kitchen. After lots of journeys up and down the corridor it was a good idea for her to sleep on the floor. I know that the crate is meant to be my den but I don't like it and I made sure that everyone knew how I felt.

Day one...
This is me and my sisters .... I was chosen to move to London and like a star was collected by a black car. A strange blue shirt carried me from my family and then a long journey.
After a mammoth 205 miles down the motorway, most of which I slept I arrived at my new house. I had already got to know gemma and ml and was keen to meet maisie who would become my new cat friend.
I got home to find a lovely area especially for me with everything i could need - a snuggly bed, shiny red bowl - and best of all some toys and snoopy. I did what I do best...slept!
After a walk around the garden and getting to know the growing tomatoes I came back for a nap and was happy to watch a bit of Top Chef. A long but enjoyable day.
Hopefully I haven't slept too much and will sleep through the night as I am a bit nervous about being so far away and in a new house...
